Finally, Linux support came to Chromebooks, and with that lots of new apps.
In this list, I made my top apps that you can install on your Chromebook that I find to be very useful.
First, to be able to get Linux apps on your Chromebook, you need to activate it from your settings. It is a very easy process, if you are still hesitant or don't know how to do it, you can just search on YouTube for more information about it. There are lots of tutorials on how to install Linux apps on a Chromebook. Also just a heads up, Linux can be heavy on Chromebooks, so first do some research if you actually want to activate it. Also, you can always deactivate it, if you don't like something. So let's get into the list.
1. Gimp
If you are an artist or you simply like digital art then this app is for you. Gimp lets you draw digital art in a professional manner. It has lots of good tools and runs smoothly on Chromebooks. To install open the terminal and type the command
sudo apt-get install gimp
2. FIrefox
If you are tired of chrome or simply prefer another browser, then firefox is probably one of the best alternatives out there.
To install
sudo apt-get install firefox-esr
3. Libre Office
One of my favorite apps is Libre Office. I use this one even on my windows computer. Libre Office is very similar to Microsoft office software and it's fully free.
To install
sudo apt install libreoffice
4. Wine 7.0
Wine app lets you install windows apps on your Chromebook. I personally don't use this, but lots of people find this app to be very useful.
Installation can be a bit confusing for this app, so I will try to create a full tutorial on how to do it, but if you can't wait and you want it to find a way now, just search it up on YouTube, I saw few videos there step by step.
So this is my list of apps that I use on my Chromebook with Linux. Let me know in the comment section what your favorite apps are.
